Our WRC in King’s Lynn, on Clockcase Lane, receives the used water from the local community where it is cleaned and safely returned to the environment. In extreme weather, the local sewer network can become overwhelmed and inundated which can cause flooding.
To tackle this, we are investing £1.8million to re-purpose some existing assets on our site to handle larger flows, providing an additional 3,402m3 of storage at the works. Additional modifications and a new pumping system and pipework will all help reduce flood risk and further protect the environment. We’re due to start work in the first week of January and expect to be finished by August.
We are offering assurances that as this work is taking place entirely on our site, there will little or no impact on the local community, apart from some construction traffic travelling to and from site occasionally. We’ll be working during the day, so noise disruption will be minimal and given the history about sludge tanker movements, we’ll keep a close eye on the condition of Clockcase Lane for the duration.
Anglia Water have also committed to repairing any damage caused to Clockcase Lane during the construction period.
